Commander Ellis and his son Jesse EllisThe Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 held a coloring contest for kindergarten and 1st grade students.  The theme was "I Pledge Allegiance".  The winning student had their design placed on the cover of the brochure for the VFW's Loyalty Day program.

Commander Richard Ellis visited the school on Tuesday May 9th to hand out prizes to students.  The class winners each received a $25 Wal-Mart Gift card and the school winner received a $50 gift card.  The overall winner was Trinity Breiner.  The class winners were as follows:  Roger Damron, Tinley Day, Jesse Ellis, Natessa Green, Hayden Leinhard, Chase McArdle, Bekim Mehmeti, Joy Pelcheck, Shaniya Sanders, and Nicholas Singh.

The Panther Valley Elementary School and the members of the VFW are proud of all the hard work the students did on the contest.  The Panther Valley Elementary School would like to thank Commander Ellis and the rest of the members of the VFW for their generosity.  We strongly believe that it is important to recognize our community members who are currently serving and have served in our armed forces.
